HOUSTON, TX —2026— Altamira, a leader in engineering and environmental consulting, is proud to announce the appointment of Dustin Sanchez as Manager of the GIS Division, where he will spearhead the integration of advanced geospatial solutions across the company’s service lines.
With nearly two decades of experience in spatial intelligence and terrain analytics, Sanchez brings a powerful combination of military-trained technical expertise and nearly a decade of industrial oil and gas experience in crisis management and emergency response. He leverages this unique blend of operational insight and forward-thinking strategy to deliver data-driven decision-making solutions for energy infrastructure clients.
In his role, Sanchez will lead the development of cutting-edge geospatial workflows tailored to the oil and gas pipeline sector, including PHMSA-compliant High Consequence Area (HCA) analysis, LiDAR-driven spill propagation modeling, alignment sheet automation, and enterprise GIS data management. His team will also focus on terrain-aware risk assessments, security vulnerability mapping, and elevation-integrated analytics to enhance operational safety and regulatory compliance.
“GIS is not just about maps, it’s about building systems that transform data into actionable intelligence,” said Sanchez. “By combining military-grade terrain analysis, automation, and real-time visualization, we’re empowering clients to streamline compliance, mitigate risks, and achieve traceable, verifiable, and complete (TVC) records. Our goal is to make GIS a cornerstone of Altamira’s engineering, integrity, and environmental solutions.”
Sanchez’s distinguished background spans mission-critical GIS programs across the military, emergency response, and energy sectors, including eight years of military service and nine years in the energy industry with a strong focus on emergency response and crisis management. His expertise includes advanced LiDAR modeling, 3D flood pathway simulations, enterprise geodatabase design, and Python-driven workflow automation. These capabilities directly support pipeline security, facility siting, spill response, and regulatory audit readiness.
“Dustin’s ability to bridge technical rigor with operational strategy is unparalleled,” said Trey Whitley, Chief Operating Officer of Altamira. “His leadership in terrain analytics and enterprise GIS modernization will accelerate our ability to deliver innovative, defensible solutions that meet the evolving needs of pipeline operators and infrastructure stakeholders.”
