Allstream Insiders Summary
SkyNRG has selected Technip Energies, Sasol and Topsoe as key partners for initial Front-End Engineering Design, or FEED, activities for Project Wigeon, a planned sustainable aviation fuel facility at the Port of Walla Walla in Washington State. The company announced the selections September 28, 2026.
SkyNRG said Project Wigeon is designed to produce 50 million gallons, or 143,000 tonnes, of sustainable aviation fuel annually using renewable natural gas and Fischer-Tropsch technology. The company said key permitting has been secured and that startup is targeted for 2031.
The partner selections advance engineering, cost and execution planning toward a future final investment decision. SkyNRG did not disclose a project capital cost, final investment decision date, construction start, EPC award, individual contract values or procurement schedule.

What the selected partners will support
Topsoe and Sasol have each signed Basic Engineering Design Package agreements with SkyNRG. The company said those agreements cover technology licenses, engineering design and technical services for their respective technologies.
SkyNRG said Project Wigeon is planned to combine Topsoe’s SynCOR™ and hydroprocessing technologies with Sasol’s Fischer-Tropsch technology to convert renewable natural gas into sustainable aviation fuel.
Technip Energies was selected to support the project’s initial engineering activities. SkyNRG cited the company’s experience with the Topsoe and Sasol technology platforms and its modularisation capabilities. The announcement does not define Technip Energies’ detailed scope, state that it has received an EPC award, or identify any construction work package.
What FEED means for Project Wigeon
SkyNRG describes FEED as the phase used to further develop engineering, cost and execution plans in advance of a future final investment decision. The current announcement therefore reflects project development work, not confirmation that the facility has reached final sanction or entered construction.
The company’s stated 2031 startup is a target, not a guaranteed in-service date. The release does not provide a financing structure, detailed construction schedule, major-equipment list, contractor roster or staged commissioning plan.
How Project Wigeon fits SkyNRG’s stated SAF strategy
SkyNRG positions Project Wigeon as a planned commercial-scale advanced-SAF facility for North America. The company also said Technip Energies’ appointment builds on the companies’ work on DSL-01, a SkyNRG SAF facility currently under construction in Delfzijl, the Netherlands.
That prior relationship provides context for the partner selection, but SkyNRG’s release does not state that the two projects have identical scopes, costs, schedules or delivery models. Project Wigeon should be evaluated on its own disclosed development status and planned configuration.
Allstream perspective: engineering definition advances, while execution scope remains unannounced
Allstream perspective: Selecting technology and engineering partners gives Project Wigeon a more defined development framework than a general concept announcement. The release identifies the intended feedstock, conversion route, annual design basis and the companies contributing key technology or engineering support.
However, the project remains before a future final investment decision. The announcement does not establish a construction award, a fixed capital budget, an EPC contractor, supplier awards or a procurement timetable. For industrial participants, the next decision-useful disclosures will be final sanction, execution-model details, named work packages and project-specific construction milestones.
