Join us for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Gulf Coast Section Scholarship Application 2026-2027 – December 1, 2025 –

The SPE Gulf Coast Section (GCS) Scholarship is now open for the 2026–2027 academic year. Applications will be accepted starting December 1, 2025, and the deadline to submit all materials is Sunday, February 15, 2026 (11:59 PM).

This scholarship supports students pursuing a career in the energy industry and provides renewable funding for up to four years: $2,000 per semester ($4,000 per academic year). To maintain eligibility in subsequent years, students must meet specific requirements related to GPA, full-time enrollment, and major. Detailed requirements will be provided upon request.

The online application consists of five sections, all of which must be completed for your submission to be considered:

  • Letters of Recommendation

Required Documents

To complete your application, you will need to submit the following through the Kaleidoscope portal. Accepted formats: MS Office, JPEG, or PDF. Maximum file size: 10 MB.

  • Letters of Recommendation: Minimum 2, maximum 3, submitted directly via the portal.
  • High School Transcript: Including fall semester of senior year.
  • SAT or ACT Score Report

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Graduating high school senior.
  • Planning to study science or engineering as a freshman in college.
  • Have a permanent address in one of the 29 counties within the SPE Gulf Coast Section: Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Jefferson, Lee, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, Washington, Wharton.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Applicants who do not meet these criteria are not eligible for the SPE GCS scholarship, but may explore SPE International scholarships. More information: SPE Scholarships.
