OpenAI has announced the launch of the Stargate Project, a $500 billion initiative aimed at building a new generation of AI infrastructure across the United States. Backed by major players including SoftBank, Oracle, NVIDIA, and Microsoft, the project is already deploying $100 billion in capital and is expected to create hundreds of thousands of American jobs. SoftBank will serve as the project’s financial lead, while OpenAI will assume operational control. The effort is positioned as a key step in the country’s reindustrialization, with construction already underway in Texas.

The Stargate Project brings together a powerhouse coalition of technology and infrastructure partners. OpenAI, Oracle, and NVIDIA will collaborate on designing and operating the advanced computing systems required for artificial general intelligence (AGI), building on longstanding relationships among the companies. Microsoft’s Azure platform will also remain a key part of OpenAI’s AI training and product delivery strategy. Masayoshi Son, chairman of SoftBank, will chair the Stargate venture, signaling strong investor confidence in the long-term value of the initiative.

With new campuses under evaluation across the U.S., the project is actively seeking partnerships with firms involved in data center infrastructure — from power and land to construction and hardware. As AI’s demand for compute accelerates, Stargate is expected to be a cornerstone of both economic and technological progress. OpenAI emphasized that this move is not just a commercial undertaking but a vital step toward building AI that benefits all of humanity.
