Overview
The 2026 API/AFPM Fall Operating Practices Symposium (OPS), jointly sponsored by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), brings together refining and petrochemical operating companies to share practical lessons from facility incidents and near misses.
The symposium focuses on accident prevention, safe operating practices, procedures, and proven best practices that can help strengthen safety performance across refineries and petrochemical facilities. Held twice each year in the spring and fall, OPS provides an opportunity to gain first-hand insights that can support safer operations and overall business performance.

Important: The Operating Practices Symposium is open only to refining and petrochemical operating companies.

Cancellations, Refunds & Substitutions
Cancellations and refund requests must be submitted in writing to Registrar@api.org by Friday, October 16, 2026. A $100 administration fee applies to cancellations received by that date. No refunds will be issued after October 16. Substitutions may be made at any time by written request.

Reservation Deadline: Friday, October 16, 2026
After the deadline, reservations will be accepted based on available rooms and room types at the hotel’s best available rate.
A credit card guarantee is required to confirm each reservation. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before arrival, and a cancellation number must be obtained, or the card may be charged for the first night’s room rate.
