ConocoPhillips Alaska Achieves First Oil at Nuna

Company plans to invest $1 billion annually in similar projects

ConocoPhillips Alaska announced the successful production of first oil from the Nuna drillsite 3T, in the Kuparuk River Unit (KRU), on Alaska’s North Slope this month. According to the company, the achievement was ahead of schedule and under budget. This marks the 49th drillsite developed within the KRU and the first new drillsite in the Greater Kuparuk Area in nearly a decade.

“From fabrication to first oil, the Nuna project’s milestones belong to Alaskans,” said Erec Isaacson, president of ConocoPhillips Alaska, in a statement released by the company. “The Nuna module was the first production module of its kind fabricated in-state in over 20 years, demonstrating our commitment to Alaska. Projects like Nuna create hundreds of local jobs, support a stable economy, and highlight the resource potential of Alaska’s legacy fields.”

The project includes 29 development wells, infrastructure, and pipelines tied to existing KRU processing facilities. Drilling at Nuna began in September and is set to continue for the next several years. ConocoPhillips Alaska has invested over $2 billion in the region this year and plans to continue investing about $1 billion annually in projects like Nuna.
